ANEEJ…celebrating Life

The 28th day in the month of June 2016 did not just come and go like most days. It was the celebration of the illustrious lives of two key ANEEJ staff – the one is Ramat Idiake, Head Finance and Admin, and the other Sandra Eguagie, programmes Officer and RAPEWATCH Coordinator. Both ladies played key roles in the shooting of ANEEJ debut movie, BUSTED, highlighting the evils of sexual harassment and rape.

In line with ANEEJ style of celebrating our own, we all turned out to celebrate our own. That apart, where else could we have demonstrated that we place a premium on gender equality and mainstreaming and giving everyone the opportunity to be celebrated and to excel than this?

Led by ANEEJ executive director, the Rev David Ugolor, we began to pop the wine and clink the glasses in a toast to long life, good health and prosperity of our colleagues. But little did we know that another one of ours Kesse Adesagbon, programme director of a sister organisation, Edo Women’s Development Initiative, EWDI, was celebrating as well. Hearing our birthday songs for Ramat and Sandra, she joined and helped to make the occasion merrier.

All three ladies were happy. We were happy as well, to be a part of the lives of our womenfolk. ANEEJ wishes them the very best in the years ahead.
