PRESS RELEASE

ANEEJ COMMEND PRESIDENT JONATHAN FOR DROPPING STELLA ODUAH AND THREE OTHER MINISTERS

Benin City…..President Goodluck Jonathan recently dropped four serving Ministers from his cabinet. Those who were asked to go by the president include the Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah; Police Affairs Minister, Caleb Olukolade; Junior Finance Minister, Yerima Ngama; and Godsday Orubebe, Minister for Niger Delta Affairs.

The Minister for Information, Mr. Labaran Maku while briefing State House correspondents after the Executive Council Meeting made this known and added that “The Ministers had indicated their interest to pursue other goals in the country and so President Goodluck Jonathan asked them to go.”

“The Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) welcomes this development and notes that the action of President Goodluck Jonathan in sacking Oduah was long overdue in the face of established cases of corruption and financial recklessness.” ANEEJ Executive Director, Rev. David Ugolor said.

ANEEJ further urged the president to sustain this approach and embark on periodic review and assessment of the various Ministers and their respective Ministries to ascertain those who have tendencies inimical to his transformation agenda.

“We make this submission given the fact that financial recklessness and corruption were injurious to development goals and objectives of any government, anywhere in the world.

“We, therefore wish to encourage Mr. President at this point to ensure that credible, competent and highly qualified professionals are appointed as replacement for the sacked Ministers, Ugolor requested.
