CONSULTANCY FOR NDGI – ANEEJ CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Background 

The Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) through her “Open Niger Delta” (OPENED) project supported by Bread for the World, seeks to introduce the Niger Delta Governance Index (NDGI). This is to capture the status and quality of governance provided by State government in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The OPENED project is specifically designed to improve effectiveness, transparency and accountability in the management of resources and delivery of basic services to the people.

The NDGI is designed to introduce healthy competition among the Niger Delta States and their institutions by assessing and ranking them on key governance issues/indicators, with a view to getting them to adopt and implement far reaching measures that could improve the governance of the region.

The NDGI is an innovation within the region and requires the greatest possible amount of contributions from relevant stakeholders.

The NDGI will on an annual basis release a comprehensive report that will rank the performance of all nine Niger Delta States (Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Edo, Delta, Ondo, Imo and Rivers) on key governance issues.

Consequently, ANEEJ seeks the services of a consultant who will design the conceptual framework & methodology for the Niger Delta Governance Index.
