ANEEJ Executive Director, David Ugolor re-elected into UNCAC Coalition Board

Abuja, Nigeria. June 22, 2023… The Executive Director, Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice, ANEEJ, the Rev David Ugolor has been re-elected as board member of UNCAC Coalition representing Sub-Saharan Africa for another term.

Managing Director of UNCAC Coalition, Mathias Huter who announced the results in Vienna, Austria after the coalition’s elections congratulated David Ugolor, Aya and Andril for their re-election and welcomed Gillan on becoming the first time representative of the Honorary members.

“I congratulate Aya, Andril and David on their re-election and Gillan on becoming the first representative of the Honorary members.

“I would also like to thank Pisey for all his contributions over the past two years, particularly his important inputs to our strategy and at the in-person meeting, as well as for standing for re-election, despite the very difficult circumstances he operates under at home. The competitive election for the East Asia Seat TI Cambodia has held was won by Indonesia Corruption Watch.” Mathias Hutter said in a message to members of the coalition.

Hutter further disclosed that the “two new colleagues are joining the CCC – Kristen Robinson from Open Contracting Partnership and Wana Alamsyah of Indonesia Corruption Watch and that arrangements are underway for the induction of the newly elected leaders.

On his part, the Executive Director of ANEEJ and Sussex University-trained anti-corruption expert, the Rev David Ugolor expressed happiness over the outcome of the polls, assuring that he would continue to offer his best to enable the UNCAC Coalition achieve his goal.

“I would ensure that the voices of anti-corruption crusaders in the Sub-Saharan Africa are effectively galvanized and positively represented at the level of UNCAC coalition,” Ugolor assured.

He further disclosed that ANEEJ and its allies would work closely with the new government in Nigeria to drive anti-corruption and inclusive reforms direly needed to stem the ugly tide of corruption and Illicit financial Flows.

The UNCAC Coalition is a global network of over 350 civil society organisations (CSOs) in over 100 countries, committed to promoting the ratification, implementation and monitoring of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

Established in August 2006, it mobilises civil society action for UNCAC at international, regional and national levels. The Coalition’s office is registered and based in Vienna, Austria

Rev Ugolor is currently in Tbilisi, Georgia attending an anti-corruption summit where he is sharing the Monitoring Transparency and Accountability in the Management of Returned Assets (MANTRA), project of ANEEJ.
