PROJECT BACKGROUND

Leadership Initiative for Transformation and Empowerment (LITE-Africa) is a Nigerian non-governmental organization (NGO) operating in Nigeria since 1999 with a vision to create a safe space for peace and development action, and a mission to facilitate community and human development, foster good governance and create inclusive and diverse networks and collaborations in the Niger Delta and beyond. The organisation designs and implementsprograms and projects in three thematic areas: Governance & Human Rights, Sustainable Livelihoods & Health, and Humanitarian Support Services.

African Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) is a non-governmental organization based in Benin City, Edo State. ANEEJ has been operational since 1995 andwas incorporated in 2006.  For over 10 years, ANEEJ has been working in the Niger Delta region and has conducted assessments including debts and structural adjustment, monitoring international financial institutions (World Bank, International Monetary Fund, African Development Bank), Public Expenditure Management, Revenue Transparency and Environmental issues including Water and Sanitation.
