AT THE FARM INN SOUTH AFRICA, ANEEJ & AFRICAN CSOs STRATEGIZE ON IFIs
Background
Key to the objective of the ANEEJ-SERAP pre-GFAR Consultative Summit in Abuja, 26th October, 2017 is the need to develop an enduring asset recovery framework for Nigeria with a harmonised message to the inaugural GFAR summit in Washington DC in December, 2017.
To build on this, ANEEJ has attended a Development and Investment in Africa: Strategy and Advocacy Workshop at the Farm Inn, Pretoria, South Africa, organized by the Coalition for Human Rights Development and the Africa Coalition for Corporate Africa (ACCA) with participants drawn from Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Kenya, Cameroon, Uganda, Liberia, Zimbabwe, the US the Africa Development Bank and the Heinrich Boel Foundation. The workshop was aimed at developing African civil society capacity to engage international financial institutions and public private partnership in the region.
It was a time to launch regional civic engagement on IFIs policy on investment and development in Africa, to develop the skills and knowledge to help strengthen civil society and community leaders to lead engagement with the Africa Development Bank, Power Africa and World Bank .
ANEEJ and AFRODAD explored joint West Africa regional networking on IFIs with the US as partner at the side meeting at the Workshop.
