Abuja, Nigeria. January 7, 2026… The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has re-affirmed its commitment to strengthen collaboration with the Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) to promote extractive resource governance in Nigeria. This commitment was made by its new Executive Secretary, Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar at the NEITI House in Abuja, during ANEEJ visit.

Leading ANEEJ delegation to NEITI, the Executive Director, David Ugolor, expressed warm congratulations to Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar on his well-deserved appointment as the Executive Secretary of NEITI and pledged the organisation’s readiness to sustain its long-standing relationship and partnership with NEITI.

“We congratulate you on your appointment as the Executive Secretary of NEITI and reaffirm ANEEJ’s longstanding partnership with NEITI in advancing transparency, accountability, and good governance in Nigeria’s extractive sector.” Ugolor noted.

“We have come to update the new NEITI leadership regarding our ongoing research work on the enablers of Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) in Nigeria’s Solid Minerals sector as part of the Nigeria Illicit Finance Resilience project supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). The visit was also to seek NEITI’s partnership to convene a high-level dialogue involving key stakeholders from government and other industry players including anti-corruption agencies, civil society organization and media focused on addressing the enablers of IFFs and strengthening compliance with EITI standards.” Ugolor stated.

Responding, Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar welcomed ANEEJ delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit and congratulatory message. He described the engagement as timely and auspicious.

“I affirm that NEITI is ready to sustain its collaboration with ANEEJ. I urge you to increase participation and collaboration with NEITI,” Hon. Musa Sarkin Adar stated.

Recall that under the Nigeria Illicit Finance Resilience project ANEEJ has been working with NEITI and the Ministry of Solid Mineral’s Development to undertake specific activities including research on the enabler if IFFs in the solid mineral sector. The research has been concluded, and the report will soon be presented to the public.
