ANEEJ and NCD Endorsed Protect Civic Space in Angola

100 civil society organizations worldwide signed a statement against the “Estatuto das Organizações Não-Governamentais”
(Status of non-governmental organisations), a new draft law regulating civil society in Angola presented by the government of
João Lourenço.
According to the signatories, the draft law poses serious risks to the fundamental freedoms and constitutional rights of the
Angolan people, and contradicts Angola’s commitments under international law to uphold freedom of expression and assembly.
