ANEEJ lauds Mary Goodman’s Appointment as OECD Deputy Sec-Gen
BENIN CITY, NIGERIA. May 21, 2024… The Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice, ANEEJ has congratulated Ms. Mary Beth Goodman on her recent appointment as Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
ANEEJ Executive Director, Rev. David Ugolor, in a statement issued in Benin City, expressed excitement over the extensive knowledge, expertise and profound commitment Mary Beth Goodman brings to global economic development, trade, anti-corruption, and democratic governance—areas that are critical to ANEEJ’s mission of eradicating poverty across Africa.

Mary Beth Goodman’s distinguished career includes serving as the United States Coordinator for Global COVID Response and Health Security, Special Assistant to President Barack Obama, and co-founding an organization dedicated to investigating links between corruption, kleptocracy, and human rights abuses in Africa. Her extensive diplomatic and legal background, combined with her commitment to human rights, positions her uniquely to contribute effectively to the OECD’s mission.
The OECD is a global policy forum working with over 100 countries to promote policies to improve economic and social well-being worldwide. Mary Beth Goodman will oversee the environment, public governance, and development portfolios, including sustainable development and climate finance.
