#InvestInWomen: ANEEJ Commemorates International Women’s Day 2024

March 8, 2023… On this International Women’s Day, the Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice proudly embraces the theme of “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.” As an organization dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability, economic justice, and social equity across Africa, we recognize the significant role that women play in driving progress and positive change.

In many communities across the continent, women are the backbone of society, often serving as caregivers, providers, and agents of change. Yet, they continue to face systemic barriers and inequalities that hinder their full participation and potential. By investing in women, we can unlock a powerful force for transformation and accelerate progress towards a more just and sustainable future.

Through our programs and initiatives, we have empowered women economically with different livelihood skills and psycho-social support to become more resilient, financially empowered, leaders, advocates, and agents for change in their communities. From promoting women’s participation in environmental decision-making to supporting women-led entrepreneurship and innovation, we are working to create a more inclusive and equitable society where every woman and girl can thrive.

On this International Women’s Day, ANEEJ reaffirm her commitment to investing in women and girls across Africa, we are presently empowering 50 beneficiaries in Agriculture and Medium and small-scale enterprise made up of 60% women through our UNDP programme in the first quarter of 2024.  Together, we can harness their talents, energy, and resilience to address the most pressing challenges facing our continent and build a brighter, more prosperous future for all.
